        * src/gfxcore.cc,src/gfxcore.h: Improve labelling of depth colour key
          to avoid sub-picometre precision on near-zero values (ticket#30).
          We now always use metres or feet for the depth with a consistent
          precision chosen from the depth range, and show the units below
          the colour bar rather than after every value.
        * src/gfxcore.cc,src/gfxcore.h: When zooming way in, stay in metres
          rather than switching to cm.  Say “1 mile” rather than “1 miles”.

          with an approach based on glBitmap.  This doesn't suffer from the
          character alignment issues which the textured-mapped fonts had,
          and is actually significantly faster on some machines.  The current
          font used is (mostly) fixed-width, but this isn't an inherent
          limitation - it was just the easiest font data to convert to a
          usable format.

          gives the survey dates in days in days1 and days2 instead of as
          time_t values in date1 and date2.  Fixes ticket#14.
